L'agence de notation extrafinancière Oekom a passé au crible les pratiques de 101 entreprises de la chimie présentes dans 25 pays. Seule une vingtaine d'entre elles ont réussi à décrocher les critères d'excellence de l'agence. Linde, Akzo Nobel et BASF se partagent le podium.

543 entreprises ont obtenu le statut „Prime“ en 2011, c’est à dire investissable en ISR, soit environ 17% des 3200 entreprises issues de 50 pays évalués par oekom, agence allemande de notation extrafinancière, qui a publié ses résultats le 27 mars 2012.

Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the US have all failed to attain prime status in the sustainability ranking of German sustainable rating agency oekom research. (...) Oliver Rüter, research director at oekom research, said: „Greece has already receiving poor ratings in our sustainability rating at a time when conventional rating agencies were still giving it scores in the A range. Investors who have been basing their decisions on our sustainability ratings do not have any Greek government bonds in their portfolios“.

Just 23 banks out of only 73 that manage to qualify for a detailed sustainability rating are worthy of attention from investors motivated by environmental and social criteria. The Munich-based analysts at oekom research come to that conclusion after screening 294 commercial banks from nearly 40 countries.

oekom research, the Munich-based sustainability rating agency, says it has enlarged its client base to more than 70 asset managers and institutional clients such as church organisations, foundations, pension funds and insurance companies from nine countries. Its ratings currently influence the management of more than 140 billion euros. There are 42 staff – with „plans to expand capacity further“.

Malgré cette disposition favorable à l’égard de l’ISR et des obligations souveraines, les institutionnels ont eu tendance à bouder l’ISR souverain et même à le critiquer. En réalité, beaucoup ne sont pas prêts à mener (…) une réflexion en interne pour établir leur propre notation extra-financière. En effet, à partir des notes fournies par des agences spécialisées (comme (…) Oekom), les institutionnelles doivent choisir les critères ESG qu’ils souhaitent mettre en avant en fonction de leurs propres convictions.

En Allemagne, une étude menée par l’agence extra-financière oekom research conclut également que la crise économique et financière ne nuit pas aux politiques RSE des entreprises. Bien au contraire. Elles en perçoivent les principes comme une contribution à la stabilité et consolidation de leurs activités. En revanche, le phénomène d’écoblanchiment prend de l’ampleur: "L’écoblanchiment est devenu un véritable défi", observe Matthias Bönning, membre de la direction d’oekom et auteur de l’enquête, dans le cadre d’une présentation officielle à Francfort. "Il est devenu plus difficile pour nous de discerner une véritable politique RSE de l’annonce publicitaire".
